2010 Rookie Class

The LPGA Q-school is over and 2010 will receive 28 rookies from 8 different countries. As it was expected 16 international players got their card compared to 12 Americans who also accomplished the feat. It's important to say that they are between 19 and 27 years old, which brings even more youngsters into the most competitive women's golf tour.

In 2005 Ai Miyazato finished 12 strokes ahead of the closest competitor, setting a record for the largest margin of victory.

This year Amanda Blumenherst earned the medalist honors at the Final Qualifying Tournament at 9 under par 351 with 72, 71, 73, 67 and 68 rounds. This result gave her a 2 stroke advantage over Katie Kempter from Albuquerque and Marianne Skarpnord from Norway.

There were some familiar faces among the top 20, Julieta Granada from Paraguay shot 6 under to fall under Priority List Category 11, along with Iben Tinning, Gwladys Nocera and Liz Janangelo.

Mariajo Uribe, who tied 8th at the Lorena Ochoa Invitational, also grabbed Priority List Category 11; while fellow country woman Paola Moreno and Mexican Tanya Dergal fell under Priority List Category 16.

The cut was made at 9 over par after three rounds leaving 72 players on the field. Aree Song and Erica Blasberg withdrew from the tournament. The complete 2010 Rooki Class can be found here.

Priority List
The LPGA fills out its fields based on this criteria; therefore winners of majors and money list leaders have a higher Priority List status. The better a player is, the better the status she gets.

The top 20 finishers at Q-school have 10 categories ahead of them, this means that the LPGA will offer spots in tournament to the players in categories 1 to 10 before getting players from category 11.

Category 11 combines the top 20 finishers at Q-school and players 81-100 on last season's money list.

Categories 16 is composed by players 21-30 and Category 20 by golfers 31-40 from the Q-School.
